Yesterday we posted Psalm 119:57-64.
Today, let's take a closer look at 57 and 58. The Psalms are so rich with love for our Lord and love from the Lord. And these two lines are no exception.
Here's a modern summary:
You are all I need Oh, Lord
Your words I will keep
My whole heart asks for your favor
You are merciful to me
The Lord is available to us at all times. We just have to ask! We have to know His words so we can better know who He truly is. If we read the Bible and study it, we can reserve words and phrases to fall back on in good times and bad.
Jesus lives in our hearts. He lives in our beings. We ask for the Lord to have favor on us. And we know he does. And he is merciful to all. He will never leave or forsake us. He is faithful and true.
Think on the words of the Psalm. Say them aloud to the Lord. Call upon His name and feel his love and mercy rain down into your heart.
57 You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words. 58 I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. NKJV

Psalm for Today
God is faithful and true.
Psalm 119:57-64
57 You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words. 58 I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word. 59 I thought about my ways, And turned my feet to Your testimonies. 60 I made haste, and did not delay To keep Your commandments. 61 The cords of the wicked have bound me, But I have not forgotten Your law. 62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, Because of Your righteous judgments. 63 I am a companion of all who fear You, And of those who keep Your precepts. 64 The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; Teach me Your statutes.
We must rely on the Lord--He and only He is our portion. We can't rely on ourselves or this world we live in.

Sharing It All
Psalm 41: 1-2
1 Blessed is he who considers the poor;
The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive,
And he will be blessed on the earth;
There are always people who have more "stuff" than we do. There are also people who have less "stuff." But is this Psalm talking about "stuff?" Or is it talking about poor in a different manner. Poor of spirit?
We can apply the more than/less than theory to that, also. We must share what the Lord has given us. Material-wise and spiritual-wise.
If you can give someone furniture or clothing or anything else you might have that's awesome. But we must also be willing to give what God has instilled in our hearts. The love He has for us. And we are called to share that love with others.
It's sometimes easier to give away our "stuff" rather than giving away His love, His words, His message. Giving away our stuff is less personal--it's doing a good deed and it doesn't appear to be pushy. When we share His message and love, sometimes it's not well received.
God loves us. Yesterday, today and tomorrow. Go and tell someone.
