Psalm 119:57-58

Yesterday we posted Psalm 119:57-64.
Today, let's take a closer look at 57 and 58. The Psalms are so rich with love for our Lord and love from the Lord. And these two lines are no exception.

Here's a modern summary:
 You are all I need Oh, Lord
Your words I will keep
My whole heart asks for your favor
You are merciful to me

The Lord is available to us at all times. We just have to ask! We have to know His words so we can better know who He truly is. If we read the Bible and study it, we can reserve words and phrases to fall back on in good times and bad.
Jesus lives in our hearts. He lives in our beings. We ask for the Lord to have favor on us. And we know he does. And he is merciful to all.  He will never leave or forsake us. He is faithful and true.

Think on the words of the Psalm. Say them aloud to the Lord. Call upon His name and feel his love and mercy rain down into your heart.

 57 You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words. 58 I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word.

Psalm for Today

God is faithful and true.

Psalm 119:57-64
57 You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words. 58 I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word. 59 I thought about my ways, And turned my feet to Your testimonies. 60 I made haste, and did not delay To keep Your commandments. 61 The cords of the wicked have bound me, But I have not forgotten Your law. 62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, Because of Your righteous judgments. 63 I am a companion of all who fear You, And of those who keep Your precepts. 64 The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; Teach me Your statutes.

We must rely on the Lord--He and only He is our portion. We can't rely on ourselves or this world we live in.

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled;
you believe in God, believe also in Me.

Jesus was talking to his disciples after Judas' betrayal. He was telling them to trust in Him.

Haven't you heard this phrase all your life? "Let not your heart be troubled."

The words came from Jesus. Spoken in truth.

There are so many things that trouble our hearts. This list can be long. But if we anchor our heart in Jesus, the One who died on the cross for our sins, we have a place of peace to turn to. Not that all the chaos will immediately go away, but for even a moment we can rest in the One who can give us peace.

Sunday Psalm

Psalm 44:4-5

You are my King, O God;
Command victories from Jacob,
Through You we will push down
our enemies;
Through Your name we will trample
those who rise up against us.

The Children of God

The Father loved us enough to call us the children of God.

1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father las bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.
NKJV

Even if you don't have children, you were once a child. Taken care of, fed, clothed. This is the same way God takes care of us. We are His children.

You may be thinking along the lines that God can't just put clothes in my closet. He could if He wanted to, but  another point is this.
It's the perspective.
Yes, it's how we see things that enables us to know and believe God for all He is and can do.  He can change the way we think. He can change the way we look at certain situations.
He can change everything.

Have you ever had a situation changed by God? Have you ever had a situation you wished would be changed?

Joy in Trials

Do you ever feel like you're in the middle of something you just can't shake? Do you ever feel like you are going through a trial of sorts? Be it physically or emotionally?

It happens to everybody---even those who look put together on the outside, trust me, they have gone through hard times at one point or another.

James 1:2-3  My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.

Patience---hmmm.....

The word of the Lord says trials produce patience. We can't look at our trials with a heavy heart. We must look for the gem God is trying to show us through them.

Have you had a trial lately? Were you able to find any sort of joy through it?
